King Kekaulike High sophomores Savanna Valdez and Madison Dutro (first photo) chat with Barbie Dofa, Napili Kai Beach Resort director of human resources Wednesday during a career fair at the Sheraton Maui. The fair was part of the LEI (Leadership, Exploration, Inspiration) Program, sponsored by the Hawai’i Tourism Authority and presented by Oahu nonprofit ClimbHI. The program brought 140 high school students from three schools to the Sheraton to learn about hospitality industry careers. The fair featured more than 20 companies. Dofa said it was not only a way to reach potential employees, but as a graduate of Maui Community College, it was a way to reconnect with her roots. UH-Maui College had 20 students serving as mentors.
